Sevilla 'overtake Barcelona in Luciano Vietto race'

A report claims that Sevilla are ahead of Barcelona in the race to sign Luciano Vietto from Atletico Madrid this summer.

Sevilla have reportedly moved ahead of Barcelona in the race to sign Atletico Madrid forward Luciano Vietto in this summer's transfer window.

The Argentine forward earned himself a move to Atletico last summer after hitting 20 goals in 48 appearances during an impressive first season in Spanish football with Villarreal.

Vietto only managed three goals for the capital club during the 2015-16 season, however, and it is understood that Atletico would be open to a sale this summer.

Barcelona were believed to lead the race after their sporting director Robert Fernandez hailed the 22-year-old and also confirmed that his club would sign a new forward this summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, however, Sevilla are now at the head of the queue after agreeing a deal with Atletico that would see Diego Simeone's side retain a buy-back option.

The same report claims that Vietto will meet with his agent this week to discuss the offers available.
