Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti insists that his passionate celebration against Roma on Wednesday night meant nothing in regards to his future at Camp Nou.

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has insisted that his celebration against Roma was not in relation to speculation regarding his future at Camp Nou.

Since the start of 2018, Umtiti has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with either Manchester City or Manchester United, who are seemingly willing to meet the player's release clause of £52m.

Umtiti has recently suggested that he is 'concerned' with the size of the option in his contract, but the French international has said that holding the club badge after a goal on Wednesday night was only to show his "love" for the club.

The 24-year-old told beIN SPORTS: "It was not a [special message], I wanted to say that I love this club.

"I have nothing much else to say. I just stick to playing and doing well on the pitch. That is the most important for me. That is what I will keep trying to do.

"The rest are things that come out in the press - some true, some false - but I focus on football."

Umtiti has made 78 appearances for Barcelona since moving to the club in July 2016.
