Martin Braithwaite strike earns Toulouse a draw against Bastia

Martin Braithwaite scores a standout goal to earn his side a 1-1 draw with travelling Bastia in week 21 of the Ligue 1 campaign.

Martin Braithwaite's second-half wonder-strike earned Toulouse a 1-1 draw with travelling Bastia in Ligue 1 this evening.

Toulouse's Alexis Blin looked to test his accuracy in the opening minutes when he shot towards goal after Etienne Didot's headed pass, but it wasn't enough to trouble Jean-Louis Leca.

In a first half of very few chances, Wissam Ben Yedder looked to make himself the difference when he crossed for Didot, who could only send his header straight at a thankful Leca from close range.

Bastia took the lead against the run of play early in the second half, as a sorrowful Ali Ahamada put the ball into his own net in the 50th minute to make it 1-0 in favour of the visitors.

The away side could have doubled their lead straight after kickoff too, as Floyd Ayite raced into the box to find Famoussa Kone, but the post was to get the better of his shot from the right side of the area

Ben Yedder continued to threaten for Toulouse as they sought out an equaliser and it almost came when he crossed for Uros Spajic, leaving Leca to make an impressive save down low to keep Bastia in front.

The hosts finally got the equaliser 13 minutes from time when Braithwaite took aim from outside of the box, before drilling home a standout effort to beat an impressive Leca and leave the final score at 1-1.
