Bayern Munich dealt Claudio Pizarro blow

Bayern Munich are dealt an injury blow as Claudio Pizarro faces weeks on the sidelines following a thigh muscle injury.

Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich will face a period of six weeks with only one orthodox striker available for selection after it was announced that experienced forward Claudio Pizarro will be out with a thigh muscle injury.

The news comes following Bayern's comfortable 5-0 win over Viktoria Plzen in their Champions League clash at the Allianz Arena last night.

The striker will now miss the German side's clash with Borussia Dortmund next month, though Guardiola has used him intermittently this season, with Thomas Muller and Mario Mandzukic often deployed as strikers.

Bayern are currently top of the Bundesliga after nine games played, with Dortmund only one point behind the league leaders.
