The Bavarians needed just 12 minutes to edge ahead in the contest as Mario Gotze chested Rafinha's knock-down before volleying past Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
Pep Guardiola's men doubled their advantage on the stroke of half time, with Franck Ribery - playing his first game this year - nipping in ahead of teammate Mario Mandzukic to tap home from close range.
Gotze came within the width of the post from registering his second of the afternoon shortly after the interval, before it was Ribery's turn to be denied his brace by the woodwork minutes later.
Arjen Robben added a third on 67 minutes, smashing home via the underside of the crossbar, before Gotze turned provider by crossing for Dante to head past Trapp two minutes later.
Mandzukic compounded the visitors' misery by adding a fifth in the dying moments of normal time, clipping a left-footed effort into the corner of the goal to seal a ruthless performance from the reigning champions.
