Belgium, Spain friendly match cancelled due to security concerns

The friendly match between Belgium and Spain is cancelled due to security fears at the King Baudouin Stadion in the aftermath of the terror attacks on Paris.

The friendly match between Belgium and Spain on Tuesday has been cancelled due to security fears in Brussels.

A total of 129 people were killed in a spate of terror attacks across Paris on Friday night, including in the vicinity of the Stade de France where Les Bleus were playing Germany.

An attempt to attack the stadium itself was reportedly foiled as a bomber was denied entry to the ground.

However, in the aftermath of the attacks French prosecutors have discovered that a Belgian national orchestrated the tragic events, which culminated in several arrests around the country.

The Belgian government elevated their terror alert to three, highlighting the risk of a serious threat, which has been deemed enough to cancel the match at the King Baudouin Stadion.

The Belgian FA said in a statement: "Taking into account the exceptional circumstances, we cannot take any security risk to our players and fans."

England's match against France was given the go-ahead by the Football Association and the French Football Federation, but armed police will be present around Wembley tomorrow.
