Gary Rowett pleased with Birmingham City victory over MK Dons

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett admits that he was pleased with his side's performance during their 2-0 win over MK Dons in the Championship.

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett has revealed that he was delighted with his side's second-half display in their 2-0 win over MK Dons.

The Blues struggled to find a breakthrough in the opening 45 minutes, but Rowett made changes at the break which brought about goals for his men as Stephen Gleeson and Jacques Maghoma found the net to fire City to the three points.

He told the club's official website: "I'm really pleased. I thought we started very poorly for us, in terms of our intensity about we defended and moved the ball. I was disappointed at half time, probably the first time I've got angry with the players, because the standards have been much higher than that.

"Second half much much better. I threatened a couple of changes at half time and I think it livened one or two up. I thought [Maghoma] changed the game when he came on in terms of that he gave us a little more on the ball.

"We made a tactical change after five minutes of the second half and we pushed the two midfielders up and sat [Gleeson] on his own. It made a difference and we played 20 yards further up the pitch. We had more possession and we moved the ball better."

Birmingham are seventh in the Championship after four matches this season.
