Bolton Wanderers secure comfortable win over Doncaster Rovers

Bolton Wanderers secure a comfortable win over Doncaster Rovers in their Championship clash at the Reebok Stadium.

Bolton Wanderers cruised to a 3-0 win over Doncaster Rovers in their Championship clash at the Reebok Stadium.

The game started slowly but came to life in the 19th minute when the visitors won a free kick that was knocked into the area and Theo Robinson made contact with a thundering header; however, he saw his effort clatter back off the post and cleared away.

Bolton hit back with a chance of their own as a well-worked move found Joe Mason on the edge of the box and he struck a shot at goal that trickled just past the post with Ross Turnbull beaten.

However, minutes later Wanderers did take the lead as Mason raided forward into the box and struck an effort from 15 yards out that took a deflection off Luke McCullough and beat Turnbull to find the net.

Bolton doubled their lead minutes later as Mason caused havoc yet again as he fired a shot at goal which Turnbull did well to beat away but Andre Moritz followed up on the rebound and fired the ball home.

After the break, Rovers tried to get back into the game as Robinson beat a couple of challenges before launching an effort from distance that was saved by Andy Lonergan.

Bolton pressed forward looking for a third goal to kill the game but they could not find it, as Matt Mills saw his effort disallowed and Neil Danns was denied by a good save by Turnbull.

The Trotters came close again with time running out as Lee Chung-Yong placed a through-ball for Rob Hall, who took it in his stride but saw his shot well saved by Turnbull.

However, minutes later the keeper was beaten by an effort from Danns to seal the win for Dougie Freedman's side.
