David Wheater header wins it for Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers ease past Lancashire rivals Blackpool 1-0 thanks to David Wheater's first-half header.

Bolton Wanderers beat Lancashire rivals Blackpool 1-0 at the Reebok Stadium this evening.

David Wheater scored the winner after 15 minutes when he headed home Jay Spearing's delivery.

Elliot Grandin went close for the Seasiders on 25 minutes but his effort just missed the target, moments after Neil Danns had squandered a decent opening for Wanderers.

Lukas Jutkiewicz came close to doubling the advantage towards the end of the first half, but the former Everton youngster could only fire wide.

The Trotters looked like doubling their lead after the break and Danns hit the side-netting after Andre Moritz had gone close with two chances.

Zat Knight was denied with a header late on, as the home side had to settle for just the one goal as they eased past the Tangerines.
