Borussia Dortmund cruise into last 32 with win over Qabala

Borussia Dortmund qualify from Group C of the Europa League with a 4-0 win at home to Qabala.

Borussia Dortmund have progressed to the last 32 of the Europa League with two games to spare following a comprehensive 4-0 win at home to Qabala.

The first chance for the hosts fell the way of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 13th minute, but the Armenian couldn't keep his strike down.

A few minutes later, Sergei Zenjov almost gave Qabala a shock lead with an acrobatic effort which Roman Weidenfeller was relieved to see drop wide up the upright.

In the 18th minute, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was sent through on goal but could only fire at Dawid Pietrzkiewicz and Gonzalo Castro scuffed the follow-up wide.

The opening goal eventually came for Dortmund in the 28th minute when Marco Reus stepped inside before thrashing a 20-yard strike into the back of the net.

In first-half stoppage time, Aubameyang doubled Dortmund's advantage with a clinical finish that rattled the inside of the post before crossing the line.

Castro hit the post 10 minutes into the second half before Adnan Januzaj was thwarted by a sprawling Pietrzkiewicz save.

However, an own goal from Sergei Zenjov and a Mkhitaryan strike soon gave Dortmund a four-goal advantage with 20 minutes still remaining.

Dortmund again struck the post 15 minutes from time through Mkhitaryan, but it had no bearing on the outcome of the game as Dortmund march on to the knockout stages.
