Dortmund held by Stuttgart

Borussia Dortmund are held to a 0-0 draw by Stuttgart.

Stuttgart have held off Borussia Dortmund in a scoreless draw at Signal Iduna Park.

Ilkay Gundogan and Mario Gotze both went close for the hosts inside the first five minutes but they could not hit the target.

Then Marcel Schmelzer dragged a shot wide as Dortmund continued to dominate the encounter.

Mats Hummels came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock on the half-hour mark but hit the bar.

Kevin Grosskreutz had a couple of efforts just before the break but somehow Stuttgart held firm until half-time.

Grosskreutz had an effort well saved at the start of the second period, but Dortmund could have found themselves behind had Hummels not blocked from Raphael Holzhauser.

As the half wore on Stuttgart came into the game more and Roman Weidenfeller had to be alert to fend off Vedad Ibisevic's shot.
