Goals from Cristian Baroni and Raul Meireles have given Fenerbahce a 2-1 lead at Borussia Monchengladbach in the Europa League Group C.

Juan Arango went close for the hosts in the 17th minute with a left-footed curling shot, but his effort went over the Fenerbahce crossbar.

A minute later Luuk de Jong made no mistake in finding the target, as he headed home Havard Nordtveit's delivery from around 12 yards.

However, Fenerbahce restored parity in the 25th minute when Cristian Baroni shot home from outside the Monchengladbach penalty box with his right foot.

Then five minutes from the half-time interval, Raul Meireles latched on to Caner Erkin's pass to fire in from 25 yards to make it 2-1 to Fenerbahce at the break.
