Tommy Elphick: 'We will remain grounded'

Bournemouth skipper Tommy Elphick believes that the Cherries players will not get carried away by being part of the Premier League next season.

Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick has said that his Cherries teammates will not get carried away by playing in the Premier League next season.

The South Coast outfit will begin their first campaign as a top-flight club in August, having won the Championship title last term.

Eddie Howe's title-winning squad featured nine members of the side that won promotion from League One in 2013, and Elphick insists that the players will not forget where they have come from.

"Coming from where we have, it is all good. You never get fed up being recognised and congratulated," the defender told the Bournemouth Echo.

"We're probably not going to win as many games next season and some of the publicity might turn. We have to accept things may not be as positive but that is part of being an elite athlete with people analysing everything you do. It comes with the territory.

"The minute you change is when the problems can start. You just have to be true to yourself and to the people around you."

Bournemouth will begin the Premier League season with a home match against Aston Villa on August 8.
