Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe names Andrew Surman on the bench for the visit of Charlton Athletic today.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has named Andrew Surman on the bench for the visit of Charlton Athletic in the opening day of the Championship.

Surman, who spent the last two years in the Premier League with Norwich City, arrived at Dean Cross on a season-long loan deal from Carrow Road on Thursday.

The 26-year-old will be joined in the dugout by fellow summer signing Ian Harte, while Mohamad Coulibaly is set for his Cherries debut having joined the club last month.

Meanwhile, Charlton boss Chris Powell has also opted to include his latest recruits in the squad for the visit to Dorset, with England Under-21 international Marvin Sordell handed a starting berth following his loan move from Bolton, while Simon Church takes his place on the bench.

Bournemouth: Allsop; Francis, Ward, Cook, Daniels; Coulibaly, Arter, MacDonald, Pugh; Thomas, Grabban

Charlton Athletic: Hamer; Solly, Wiggins, Morrison, Dervite; Pritchard, Hughes, Gower, Harriott; Kermogrant, Sordell
