Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton admits that making it through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 1986 feels "really good".

Chris Hughton has insisted that Brighton & Hove Albion were "deserved" 3-1 winners in their FA Cup last-16 tie with Coventry City.

The Seagulls dodged a potential upset by opening up a two-goal lead inside the opening 34 minutes at the Amex Stadium before Leonardo Ulloa killed things off on the hour.

Coventry did manage to register before the game reached its conclusion, but it proved to be plain sailing for the Premier League club in the end against the lowest-ranked side still left in the competition.

Hughton is delighted to have made it through to the quarter-finals for the first time since 1986, and was particularly pleased to see record signing Jurgen Locadia get off the mark early on on his Brighton debut.

"It's a really good feeling, and a win that our application deserved," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "Credit to Coventry who made us work hard, but I think we'd had a good enough grasp to hang on even after their late goal.

"It was great to see [Locadia] score, but getting 70-75 minutes was more important. He's looking fitter, and he's come into a good group, a competitive group, and it's nice to think that he doesn't feel the pressure."

Brighton have now only lost two of their past 16 FA Cup home games, with both defeats coming at the hands of Arsenal.
