Chris Hughton lauds Brighton & Hove Albion midfield duo

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton believes that the Seagulls' success next season can be built around midfield pair Beram Kayal and Dale Stephens.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has praised the recent displays of midfield duo Beram Kayal and Dale Stephens.

On the whole, it has been an underwhelming season for a team that reached the playoffs the last two seasons as Brighton are down in 20th with one game to go, but Hughton has been impressed with his midfield pairing.

Kayal has only been at the club since signing from Celtic in January, while Stephens has only been available since February after 10 months out with an ankle injury.

"I thought Dale and Beram were very good (in the 2-0 defeat to top-of-the-table Watford on Saturday)," Hughton told The Argus.

"When you think that Beram has come in on the back of not much football before he came here, it will be an important summer for both of them. They are two very good all-round players."

By going down 2-0 to the Hornets, Brighton have now failed to score in their last four home games.
