Half-Time Report: Cardiff City in control at the break

Cardiff City take a 1-0 lead in at half time against Coventry City in the League Cup first round.

Cardiff City have taken a 1-0 lead in at half time against Coventry City in the first round of the League Cup.

The opening 45 minutes were played at a subdued tempo, with neither team really threatening, but the visitors finished off the one chance of note within the first four minutes.

Guido Burgstaller spun neatly inside the area after holding off a challenge before tucking away a left-footed effort into the bottom corner.

Coventry struggled to get in behind the Championship side and it was a relatively comfortable first 45 minutes for the Welsh side's defence.
