A Nelson Valdez goal in the dying seconds give Valencia a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in La Liga.

A late Nelson Valdez header proved enough for Valencia to snatch a 1-0 win at Celta Vigo in La Liga.

Despite their bright start, Vigo had to wait until the 22nd minute for their first chance of the match, when Iago Aspas drove into the box before playing in Fabian Orellana but Adil Rami came across to make a brilliant challenge at a crucial moment.

However, Valencia came close to taking the lead just before the break as Ever Banega's cross was met by a thumping header from Alberto Costa, but he could only watch as his effort rebounded off the foot of the post.

After the break, David Albelda had a half-chance for the visitors when he drove into Vigo territory before blasting a 30-yard effort high over the crossbar.

Valencia had another opportunity to break the deadlock 12 minutes from time, when Jonas rose to meet a high ball with wonderful technique, but his effort was pushed just wide of the post.

However, in the third minute of stoppage time, Valdez rose highest to thump home what proved to be the winning goal.
