A hip injury that requires surgery will keep Celtic's Scott Brown out of action for a number of weeks.

Celtic midfielder Scott Brown will spend the next few weeks on the sidelines with a hip injury.

The 27-year-old has struggled with the complaint for a number of months and it has now been decided that he will have an operation in attempt to correct the problem.

As a result, he will miss his side's Champions League tie against Juventus next week, as well as Scotland's World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Serbia in March.

No date has been given regarding a comeback for Brown, although he is not expected to feature for the Scottish champions again until April at the earliest.
