Gary Cahill: 'Chelsea will turn things around'

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill believes that his side will turn their season around despite sitting just a point above the relegation zone after 16 games.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has insisted that his side will turn their season around sooner rather than later.

The Blues have put in the worst title defence in Premier League history so far this season, losing nine of their 16 games to sit just a point clear of the relegation zone.

Cahill, who has spent the last two matches on the bench, admitted that things have been "tough" so far this season, but has confidence that they can still salvage something from the campaign.

"Last season was fantastic, this season has been tough, but we're looking to turn that around. We're working hard to make things right," Cahill told the official Chelsea magazine.

"Not every single minute of your career will go well, individually and collectively, and not every season will go how you want it to, but it's how you react to that.

"When things aren't going well, you work even harder and look for a reaction. I'm sure we'll turn it around."

Chelsea are currently 20 points off leaders Leicester City and 14 points adrift of the Champions League places approaching the halfway stage of the season.
