Roberto Di Matteo: 'Daniel Sturridge will learn'

Chelsea interim boss Roberto Di Matteo believes that Daniel Sturridge needs to be given time to develop as a player.

Chelsea interim boss Roberto Di Matteo believes that Blues attacker Daniel Sturridge has the ability to become a central striker.

Di Matteo also hinted, however, that the 22-year-old needs to become more of a team player.

"Daniel is still developing. Just look at his age and the number of games he has played. He needs to become a better player, but he has some incredible talent. He can make the team better and help us win more games," Di Matteo told The Mirror.

"I think he has the ability to play through the middle. I wouldn't think it's difficult to play for the team. But every player has to put individual quality for the benefit of the team. That way, the team becomes stronger."

Sturridge has scored 11 goals this season.
