Roberto Di Matteo says that his team need to be more clinical in front of goal following today's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo believes that his team are close to their best form following today's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

The Blues were forced to settle for a point at Stamford Bridge after Luis Suarez had cancelled out John Terry's 20th-minute header.

Di Matteo said that his side have to be more clinical in front of goal, but was pleased with how his team played in general.

"We knew that the second goal was crucial to the game," Di Matteo told Sky Sports News. "We had opportunities, their goalkeeper made some great saves. We couldn't push on.

"We are still playing well and we are still creating chances, but we have to be clinical to take our chances and finish the game off.

"I think we are in much better shape than previous years. We are very close to our best as well. If we had won today it would have been great for us, but we are still in the mix."

Chelsea now lie third in the Premier League.
