Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway is critical of Manchester City and Chelsea's treatment of Roberto Mancini and Rafael Benitez respectively.

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has criticised Manchester City after Roberto Mancini was sacked this week.

The Palace boss also believes that Chelsea's treatment of Rafael Benitez has been unfair after the Spaniard led the Blues to Europa League success.

"Roberto Mancini is sacked as the manager of Manchester City, 12 months after winning the club's first title since I was a lad," Holloway told The Mirror. "And lifting the Europa League won't be enough to keep Rafa Benitez at Chelsea beyond the end of the month.

"There used to be a saying that a manager is judged purely on results. It seems the lunatics have finally taken over the asylum.

"Believe me, being a successful football manager is a specialised skill at any level. What worries me is that these days, even winning isn't enough."

Palace meet Watford in the Championship playoff final on May 27.
