John Terry is banned for four matches and handed a £220,000 fine after being found guilty of misconduct at a Wembley hearing.

John Terry has been banned for four games after the Football Association found him guilty of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand last October.

Terry has also been handed a fine of £220,000 after the FA panel reached a verdict on the fourth day of proceedings at Wembley.

An independent regulatory commission found Terry guilty of misconduct, with the ban and fine subject to an appeal from the Chelsea defender.

Terry will still be eligible to play for the Blues against Arsenal this weekend if he decides to contest the charge.

The 31-year-old decided to retire from international football on Sunday as he believed that the FA's case made his position in the England team untenable.
