John Terry: 'I cried over failed title bid'

Chelsea skipper John Terry says that failing to win the Premier League title last season brought him to tears.

John Terry has revealed that he cried after failing to lead Chelsea to the Premier League title last season.

The Blues finished four points off the pace behind Liverpool and champions Manchester City in what was a three-way race to the trophy in the final months of the season.

Jose Mourinho's side led the way with a four-point gap over the Reds toward the end of March, and the Chelsea skipper admits that the failure brought him to tears.

"I was in tears over the Premier League last year, over throwing that away and not winning it," he told reporters.

"That's what I play for week in, week out. I'm never scared to show my emotions.

"I just want to win trophies, that's what I'm born to do, it's in me from when I was a kid. I just want to win games, whether that's in the Premier League or the Champions League."

They are odds-on favourites to atone for their shortcomings last season as Chelsea sit top of the table after winning 16 points from a possible 18 thus far.
