How Newcastle United could line up against Chelsea

Sports Mole looks at how Newcastle United could line up for Saturday's Premier League trip to Chelsea as they aim to build on victory over Manchester United.

Newcastle United will travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Saturday afternoon hoping for another scalp in what has been a curious start to the season.

Steve Bruce has generally not fared well in his first eight league games at the Newcastle helm, with the Magpies currently sitting just one point and two places above the relegation zone.

However, their only two wins of the season have come against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, and they will be looking to make it a hat-trick of 'big six' victims in West London this weekend.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Bruce could set his side out for the contest.

Possible NEW XI vs. CHE

Out: Florian Lejeune (knee), Isaac Hayden (suspended), Matt Ritchie (ankle)
Doubtful: None

With no new injury concerns to worry about, Newcastle could well field the same side which toppled Manchester United at St James' Park before the international break.

That means another start for Matty Longstaff alongside his brother Sean Longstaff in central midfield, with the younger sibling having marked his Newcastle debut by scoring the only goal of the game against the Red Devils.

The Longstaff axis is likely to force Jonjo Shelvey to settle for a place on the bench once again, alongside the likes of Paul Dummett, Dwight Gayle and former Chelsea man Christian Atsu.

Isaac Hayden will serve the second of his three-match ban following his red card against Leicester City last month, while Matt Ritchie is closing in on a return but this match will come too soon for him.

Joelinton will again lead the line ahead of Andy Carroll, while January arrival Miguel Almiron is still in search of his first goal or assist in the Premier League.
