Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer, providing competition for long-term admirers Barcelona.

Chelsea are reportedly contemplating an approach for Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Netherlands international has three months remaining on his contract, allowing the likes of Barcelona to hold discussions with the player should they wish to pursue a deal.

As it stands, Chelsea are unable to follow suit, leaving them to consider their options before potentially making an official move at the beginning of June.

Nevertheless, Marca claims that the Blues are interested in signing the 30-year-old should he become available on a free transfer.

While the West Londoners are well stocked for options in the final third, Thomas Tuchel is expected to make changes to his squad later in 2021.

Liverpool want to retain the services of Wijnaldum with the player having been used on 40 occasions in all competitions this season.
