Molde forward David Datro Fofana reportedly arrives in London for a medical ahead of a proposed transfer to Chelsea.

Chelsea are reportedly hoping to finalise the transfer of Molde forward David Datro Fofana over the coming days.

The Blues have generally been poor in the final third this season, scoring just 17 goals during their 14 Premier League fixtures in 2022-23.

Furthermore, Kai Havertz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Armando Broja have chipped in with just eight strikes in all competitions, Havertz netting the most with four.

However, in a further blow in that area of the pitch, Broja has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury in a friendly with Aston Villa earlier this month.

As a result, it became clear that Chelsea would need to enter the market for a new forward, particularly when any deal for RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku would not go through until next summer.

In the days after Broja's injury, it was alleged that Chelsea had moved swiftly to try to secure a deal with Molde for Fofana.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, that is a transfer which is now on the brink of completion before the end of the year.

Romano says that the Ivorian has made the journey to London to undergo a medical with Chelsea, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday.

Barring any unforeseen issues, Romano adds that the move is 'a done deal', with an agreement over a fee and personal terms having been reached with all parties.

Chelsea have allegedly agreed to pay €12m (£10.58m) for a player who has made an impression in Norway's top flight and European football.

Fofana, who turns 20 years of age on the same day as his medical, has contributed a total of 24 goals and 10 assists from his 65 appearances for Molde.

Four goals and one assist have come in this season's Europa Conference League, with a further 15 strikes being provided in the 2022 Eliteserien.

That helped Molde win the league title by a mammoth 18 points, and the champions have now decided to make a substantial profit on a player that they signed on a free transfer in February 2021.
