Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has suggested that Andreas Christensen is on the verge of signing a new deal with the Champions League holders.
The Denmark international is due to become a free agent in the summer of 2022 and has recently been linked with a switch to Barcelona.
Chelsea are keen to tie Christensen down to a new contract in the English capital, though, and Tuchel has now hinted that some "good news" could come the club's way soon.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Tuchel said: "Things are very mature and respectful and clear. Of course there are some delays with Toni and Andreas at the moment.
"For Andreas, from my point of view, everybody wants the same thing. The coach wants the same thing, the club wants the same thing and the player wants the same thing. Hopefully and obviously I expect some good news in the next days but every case is different.
"You can end up in situations like this but the situations are handled from all sides very carefully, very professionally, very calm and mature. During the process we can produce performances that we need to fulfill our goals and that's the most important."
Christensen has played the full 90 minutes in eight of Chelsea's Premier League games this term and boasts 140 appearances for the club in total.
