UEFA fine Croatia £65,000 after their fans targeted racist chanting towards Italy striker Mario Balotelli during last week's Group C clash.

UEFA have fined the Croatian national team for a second time during the European Championships after their fans were accused of racist chanting.

The Croats were charged by the European governing body after their supporters displayed improper conduct and directed racial chants towards Italy striker Mario Balotelli during last week's 1-1 draw.

UEFA acted after claims of monkey chants were alleged to have taken place during the clash, with the Manchester City striker being the victim.

The fine could spark controversy as the sum is £15,000 less than that handed to Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner, who was punished for displaying betting company Paddy Power's logo on his underpants.
