Marouane Chamakh: 'West Ham United's Sam Allardyce lied to me'

Crystal Palace striker Marouane Chamakh accuses West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce of breaking his promises during the Moroccan's loan stint.

Crystal Palace striker Marouane Chamakh has hit out at Sam Allardyce by accusing the West Ham United manager of breaking promises with regards to playing time.

The 29-year-old joined the Hammers on loan from Arsenal last January before permanently signing for the Eagles on a one-year deal earlier this month.

"I made a bad choice," Chamakh told L'Equipe. "It didn't go well at all. The manager promised me that with Andy Carroll's injury, I was going to be able to play. He did not keep his word at all.

"Alou Diarra had warned me. But I just did what I wanted and went anyway. I was had. That's why I took a bit of time to say 'yes' to Crystal Palace. I didn't want to make the same mistake twice."

Chamakh spent three years at Arsenal, but slipped down the rankings at the Emirates.
