Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders has slammed referee Mick Russell after his side's dramatic 4-3 defeat to Portsmouth this afternoon, a result that saw his side relegated from the Championship.
Rovers took a two-goal lead within five minutes before conceding four second-half goals and being reduced to 10 men in an action-packed match.
Saunders was left fuming on the sidelines, feeling hard done by in all of Portsmouth's goals, leading him to question whether Russell should ever ref again.
"I don't know if you've seen them all but that's Billy Smart's Circus out there today, all four goals," Saunders said.
"I just hope the referee recovers from that. I just can't see him recovering from it. His career. The assessor was there.
"Let's let his boss who is above him and the assessor make that decision as to whether he referees ever again."
Meanwhile, Portsmouth's three points ensure that they live to fight another day as they are now seven points from safety with three games left to play.
