Elche cruise past Rayo Vallecano in La Liga

Elche ease past Rayo Vallecano in La Liga with a comfortable 2-0 victory.

Elche have beaten a 10-man Rayo Vallecano side 2-0 in La Liga this evening, thanks to a first-half penalty from Edu Albacar and a late strike from Javier Marquez.

The hosts took the lead after 19 minutes when Vallecano's Raul Baena conceded a penalty and was shown a straight red card, leaving Albacar to step up and rifle the spot kick home.

Aaron tried to push Elche further in front as his right-footed shot was tipped away from the bottom corner by the Vallecano goalkeeper.

Lass looked to equalise for the visitors after half time having been played in by Roberto Trashorras, but his effort was somehow kept out of the top corner.

Elche completed the victory in the 79th minute when Richmond Boakye scoped out Marquez with a neat pass, allowing him to finish and settle the game in favour of the hosts.
