Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain thanks Roy Hodgson for allowing him to "express himself".

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has heaped praise on England manager Roy Hodgson for allowing the player to 'express himself'.

The 19-year-old is part of the Three Lions squad that will face Moldova on Friday before hosting Ukraine on Tuesday in their World Cup qualifying group.

The former Southampton youngster was selected by Hodgson to play at Euro 2012, and Chamberlain is thankful for the way that the 65-year-old allows him to play.

"To have a coach who lets you express yourself and do your thing in the right area of the pitch is massive," Oxlade-Chamberlain said.

"Not only that, he is a really good man off the pitch. You can sit down and have a chat with him about anything, including holidays if you wish.

"When you can build up a relationship like that with the manager, in my past experience it helps massively."

England travel to Moldova on Friday.
