Half-Time Report: Swansea City frustrate dominant Everton

Some desperate defending from Swansea earns them half-time parity with Everton at Goodison Park despite the hosts dominating much of the action.

Two goal-line clearances have denied Everton a deserved half-time lead over Swansea City at Goodison Park.

The hosts had much the better of the attacking play as Nikica Jelavic missed a handful of early chances.

After he had dragged a left-footed shot wide, the Croat thought he had opened the scoring when his glancing header flew towards the far corner.

However, Dwight Tiendalli was on hand to clear the effort from under his own crossbar and Ashley Williams followed suit by producing a last-gasp interception to deny Victor Anichebe an opener.

Swansea's Spanish duo Michu and Pablo Hernandez were looking to impress onlooking national manager Vincente del Bosque and they both came close to breaking the stalemate.

Hernandez sent a long-range effort wide early on before Michu's curling strike forced Tim Howard to tip onto his own crossbar.

Again it was Everton who threatened prior to the break but Leon Osman miscued a header from Leighton Baines's free kick delivery off target.
