Everton 'hopeful' Romelu Lukaku will be fit for Southampton clash

Everton are reportedly optimistic that Romelu Lukaku will be fit for next weekend's clash against Southampton, despite rumours of a three-week layoff.

Everton are reportedly hopeful that Romelu Lukaku will be fit to play in their Premier League clash against Southampton on April 4.

The 21-year-old was forced to pull out of Belgium's Euro 2016 qualifiers against Cyprus and Israel due to a hamstring injury.

The forward suffered the injury during the Merseyside outfit's 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road last weekend.

While some reports have suggested that Lukaku will be out of action for three weeks, Everton are optimistic that he will be available for the Southampton clash, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Toffees are currently 13th in the league table.
