Phil Neville warns his Everton teammates not to feel sorry for themselves and backs them to respond well after recent poor performances.

Everton captain Phil Neville has called for his side to show some fighting spirit following their recent run of poor form.

Despite November wins over Wolves and Bolton, the Toffees have slipped to 14th in the Premier League after failing to win any of their last three games.

However Neville is confident the team will soon turn things around and start to climb the table.

"We know what we need to do, we know what we require and we have to come through this sticky period we are going through," he said.

"The only way to do that is by sticking together and being brave and, as team captain, I look around the dressing room and I think we have got a lot of brave players and that gives me confidence."

"We can't let it get us down and feel sorry for ourselves."

Everton return to Premier League action against Swansea at Goodison Park on Wednesday.
