Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell has revealed that he is ready to fill the void left by the departed Mikel Arteta.
Spaniard Arteta left Goodison Park in a deadline day transfer to Arsenal, leaving Toffees manager David Moyes little time to purchase a replacement.
As a result, 20-year-old Rodwell has spoken of his determination to claim the position vacated by his former teammate.
"Mikel is a great player. He's a good lad as well and he will be sorely missed," Rodwell told the club's official website.
"It's a good opportunity for him, so we all wish him the best. But we've got a lot of young players who can fill in. I'm ready to step up and fill his boots, definitely."
Rodwell made 28 appearances for Everton last season.
