Everton manager Marco Silva has warned Richarlison to learn fast from his "naive" dismissal in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Bournemouth.
The Brazilian forward, who joined the Toffees for a club-record £40m earlier this summer, clashed heads with Cherries right-back Adam Smith just before the break.
Referee Lee Probert wasted no time in showing Richarlison a straight red card after the 21-year-old appeared to lean his forehead into that of his opponent.
Although Smith was also sent off in the second half, the hosts subsequently rallied round to cancel out Everton's two-goal lead and finish the game with a share of the spoils.
"It is naive, it is something Richarlison can't do," Silva told Sky Sports News at full time.
"It is something for the boy to learn fast, but it is something we can see many, many times in a football match.
"Both players to put their heads against one another and with minimum contact or movement as well. But it is something he cannot do."
Everton host Rotherham United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday before welcoming Huddersfield Town to Goodison Park in the Premier League next Saturday.
