Everton and Bournemouth are reportedly monitoring the situation of Coventry City forward Viktor Gyokeres.

The Sweden international joined the Sky Blues from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2021 on an initial loan deal before he completed a permanent transfer the following summer.

Gykoreres made his 100th appearance for the Championship side in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sunderland, and he marked the occasion by registering one goal and one assist.

Saturday's performance took his tally for the season to 16 goals and five assists in 34 competitive appearances, and as the second highest scorer in the Championship, he appears to be attracting attention from the Premier League.

According to Football Insider, Everton and Bournemouth are keeping tabs on the striker as they weigh up whether to make a summer move.

The final third has proven to be a problem area for the Toffees, who are the lowest scorers in the top flight with 17 goals from 24 games.

They were looking to strengthen their forward line in the January transfer window, and Gyokeres was believed to be one of their potential targets.

However, they were reluctant to meet Coventry's asking price, which was reportedly in excess of £20m.

As it transpired, Everton failed to add to their squad in January, leaving them with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Neal Maupay and Ellis Simms as their main forward options.

While Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injuries, Maupay has only scored one goal in 17 league appearances this term, and Simms is still unproven at the highest level after being recalled from a loan spell with Sunderland in January.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, can call upon the likes of Dominic Solanke, Kieffer Moore and Antoine Semenyo, who arrived from Bristol City last month.

However, they are still keen to add to their forward options and are said to be huge admirers of the Coventry striker.

While the Sky Blues were looking for a sizeable fee in the January window, they may have to drop their asking price in the summer.

Gyokeres has less than 18 months remaining on his current deal, and Coventry are concerned that he could leave on a free transfer in June 2024.

As a result, they could be tempted to accept a fee between £10m and 12m in the summer transfer window.

Gyokeres has registered 37 goals and 10 assists in his two years as a Coventry player, and he will have the chance to score in a fourth consecutive game in Tuesday's away meeting with Preston North End.
