Roberto Martinez pleased with Aiden McGeady arrival

Everton boss Roberto Martinez says that he is "really pleased" to have signed Republic of Ireland winger Aiden McGeady.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has expressed his delight at finally welcoming Aiden McGeady to the club.

The Republic of Ireland international was unveiled at Goodison Park ahead of the 2-0 win over Norwich City this afternoon, which was achieved courtesy of strikes from Gareth Barry and Kevin Mirallas.

Martinez revealed that he had initially wanted to sign the 27-year-old in the summer, while admitting that Nikica Jelavic's proposed move to Hull City called for negotiations between Spartak Moscow to be stepped up.

He told reporters: "It has been a long process. We are really pleased, it seemed as though we were going to get him in the summer, but with the events of Nikica Jelavic moving to Hull, it was important he could join us quicker."

McGeady could make his Toffees debut in their visit to West Bromwich Albion next Monday.
