Fulham manager Martin Jol has expressed his delight at watching his side begin 2013 by recording their first away win in eight games.

Goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Alex Kacaniklic gave the Cottagers an impressive 2-1 victory at West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday afternoon, a result which moved the Londoners up to 13th in the Premier League table.

"We are in a false position but the league doesn't lie," said Jol. "Starting the New Year with three points is great. We started the game very well, and played some good football in the first half. We put a lot of pressure on West Brom and, as a result, we got a good goal.

"Perhaps we lacked a bit of aggression up front when going in search of a second and West Brom took advantage of that, by changing their formation and getting their fans behind them.

"We conceded a bit of a soft goal, but thankfully we managed to pick things up again. We got on the ball in midfield and over the course of the 90 minutes I think it was a deserved victory."

Fulham are now unbeaten in their last five matches against West Brom.
