Preview: Fulham vs. Newcastle United

Sports Mole previews the Premier League meeting between Fulham and Newcastle at Craven Cottage, where Magpies manager Alan Pardew begins his seven-match ban.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew will begin his seven-game suspension when they travel to rock-bottom Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.

Pardew was hit by record-breaking disciplinary action after admitting to a misconduct charge for headbutting Hull City's David Meyler during a fixture on March 1.

The 52-year-old is not allowed to be in attendance at the stadium for the first three games of his ban, with the following four preventing him from being present on the touchline.

Magpies assistant manager John Carver will be the man relaying the message in the Craven Cottage dugout this weekend, against a Fulham side who have not won in 10 games in all competitions.

The Whites seem consigned to relegation, despite only being four points adrift of safety, and defeat to their closest rivals Cardiff City last Saturday will have done nothing to improve morale.

Manager Felix Magath will probably stick with club-record signing Kostas Mitroglou in the hope that the £12m man from Olympiacos can start firing in the goals which may inspire an unlikely escape.

However, his experiment to partner the Greek international with 19-year-old striker Cauley Woodrow is likely to be short-lived, with Darren Bent poised for a recall to Fulham's two-man attack.

Knee injuries will keep Scott Parker and Damien Duff from facing their former club, while Ashkan Dejagah is another midfield absentee after suffering a hamstring strain in the defeat to the Bluebirds. Giorgos Karagounis and Alexander Kacaniklic are in contention after coming off the bench in Wales.

Newcastle's top goalscorer Loic Remy and Mathieu Debuchy have been ruled out, while they are also sweating on the fitness of Hatem Ben Arfa and Davide Santon, who has missed their last two games.

If he recovers from a knee concern, the Magpies could make two changes from the side that thrashed Hull 4-1 in their last outing a fortnight ago, with Santon and Papiss Cisse replacing Debuchy and Remy.
