Preview: Getafe vs. Cadiz - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's La Liga clash between Getafe and Cadiz, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Getafe will hope to improve their position at the bottom end of the La Liga table on Sunday, when they welcome Cadiz to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The hosts sit five points adrift of safety with just six points from their 13 league games so far, while their visitors broke out of the relegation with a victory over Athletic Bilbao before the international break.

Getafe had to endure a poor start to the new season, dropping to the foot of the La Liga table after losing their opening seven games.

That start triggered the dismissal of Michel, and Quique Sanchez Flores was subsequently brought back for his third spell at the helm in October.

The Azulones have certainly shown signs of potential improvement since the change in manager, collecting five points from his five games in the hot seat thanks to a series of more promising performances.

They posted their first victory of the season at the end of October, defeating an impressive Espanyol side 2-1 thanks to an Enes Unal brace, before suffering a narrow loss at the hands of Villarreal heading into the international break.

While they will be frustrated at another defeat, Flores's men should not be too disheartened by their performance against the Europa League champions, and they will hope to return to winning ways on Sunday to kickstart a climb out of the drop zone, after narrowly avoiding relegation last term.

They welcome a Cadiz side who recorded a crucial victory last time out in their own bid to steer clear of the bottom three.

After an impressive first season back in La Liga last term, Alvaro Cervera's side will have headed into the new term again looking to maintain their top-flight status, but they had a difficult start, sitting in the bottom three with just one win and seven points from the first 10 games.

Los Piratas have quickly managed to correct their form though, firstly earning an impressive point against Villarreal, despite their opponents forcing a share of the spoils with a late equaliser, before they made it two games without a defeat as Alvaro Negredo converted a penalty in the 93rd minute to snatch a 1-1 draw with Mallorca.

They now return from the international break on the back of an eye-catching victory, as Salvi Sanchez scored an early goal to see them come out of a trip to Athletic Bilbao with a surprise 1-0 win, firing them out of the relegation zone as a result.

Still sitting just one point above the bottom three, Cervera's men will now look to continue building a run of results to climb further away from the threat of the drop.

Team News

Getafe will remain without important midfielder Jakub Jankto, who continues to nurse an ankle injury, while Sunday may come slightly too soon for Sabit Abdulai in his road to recovery.

They only made limited changes in the games leading up to the international break, and, given their relative improvement, we should see a similar starting XI deployed once again.

Enes Unal will continue to lead the line after his double against Espanyol, with Dario Poveda likely joining him in the strike force.

Cadiz have several players nearing returns from injuries, and Jon Ander Garrido, Jose Mari and Martin Calderon will all be assessed in the lead up to Sunday's game, although a cautious approach may be taken.

Experienced forward Alvaro Negredo has struggled for form this season, leading Cervera to deploy a front two of Anthony Lozano and Ruben Sobrino in recent games, and the former Manchester City man will be pushing for a return to the starting XI.

Salvi Sanchez will certainly keep his place after netting the winning goal last time out, but the manager could opt to move Lozano out to the other flank to accommodate Negredo in the front four.

Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Nyom, Mitrovic, Djene, Akurugu; Suarez, Maksimovic, Arambarri, Alena; Unal, Poveda

Cadiz possible starting lineup:
Ledesma; Iza, Haroyan, Cala, Espino; Salvi, Jonsson, Fernandez, Lozano; Sobrino, Negredo

We say: Getafe 1-1 Cadiz

Getafe will know this is a vital game in their bid to avoid being cut adrift, and, while we do not see them winning, we expect the hosts to take a share of the spoils.

The visitors will arrive looking to heap more misery on the Azulones, but we back the hosts to avoid defeat as they look to improve.
