Getafe 3-1 Valencia

Valencia's chances of Champions League qualification are put in jeopardy with a 3-1 defeat at Getafe.

Valencia's chances of Champions League qualification are in jeopardy after a 3-1 defeat at Getafe.

In an entertaining first half, the visitors took a fifth-minute lead when Roberto Soldado fired in powerfully from the angle against his former club.

Getafe were soon level as Pedro Rios ghosted between the Valencia defence before he headed in Jaime Martinez's cross.

Miku doubled his side's advantage on 24 minutes when he nodded in his eighth goal of the season following yet more poor defending from the away side.

It was 3-1 at half time as Bruno converted into his own net after the ball had bounced off his foot and over the hapless Vicente Guaita in goal.

Valencia nearly got themselves back into the match after the hour, but Soldado could only head over Sofiane Feghouli's cross from close range.

At the other end, Francisco Casquero came close to finding the net when his effort was deflected over by some last-ditch defending from Mehmet Topal.
