Hamburger SV's Rene Adler: 'We can beat anyone'

Rene Adler claims that the 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund is proof of what Hamburger SV can achieve in the Bundesliga.

Hamburger SV goalkeeper Rene Adler has claimed that the 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund is proof of what the club can achieve in the Bundesliga this season.

An impressive performance dealt a blow to Dortmund's hopes of catching Bayern Munich at the top of the table, and Adler believes that Hamburg can continue to close the gap on the sides above them after moving up to seventh with the surprise win.

"We put in a really good performance over long periods of the game tonight," he told reporters after the game. "I was pleased to play my part because winning today was a crucial result.

"We won today as a team. We want to win every game, whether it be at home or away. Today simply proves that when everyone gives 100 per cent we can win any game. Playing on a Friday evening in front of a sell-out crowd – it was the perfect stage for playing football. It was a lot of fun."

Hamburg are back in action against Werder Bremen next Saturday.
