John Hughes has said that Hartlepool's squad is good enough to stay in League One.
The club sits at the bottom of the league, nine points adrift.
The side's new manager told BBC Tees: "The only way is up. I'm 100% convinced the dressing room is good enough.
"We need to get galvanised, to get spirited, we're going to have to be organised and we're going to have to be a real hard team to beat.
"I want to bring a culture to this club that you can be proud of, and we've got a big part to play in making the people of this community happy."
Neale Cooper resigned as Hartlepool manager last month following a run of poor form.
