Leeann Dempster: 'We want to rebuild Hibernian'

Hibernian chief executive Leeann Dempster wants to rebuild the club following the departure of manager Terry Butcher.

Hibernian chief executive Leeann Dempster has expressed her desire to rebuild the club following Terry Butcher's departure.

Butcher was sacked as manager earlier today just seven months after being appointed at Easter Road, having failed to avoid relegation from the Scottish Premiership last season.

The club's current situation has drawn angry demonstrations from fans against the board, but Dempster is hopeful that they can now focus on football matters to help the club bounce back into the top flight.

"Let's be honest, I wouldn't say we have been in a state of flux over the last couple of weeks after the relegation but we have not been able to achieve anything because we had other things that we had to concentrate on," Dempster told Sky Sports News.

"But we can now turn our attention to football. That's what I said to the fans on Saturday and that's what I want to do. We have got a good platform here and a great opportunity to approach [the rebuilding of the club] in a different way.

"Whether some of the more sceptical supporters in the group believe that or not remains to be seen. I can only demonstrate what I want to do here."

Hibernian were beaten by Hamilton Academical in the playoff final after managing just one win in their last 18 games of the regular league season.
