Half-Time Report: Ryan Mendes edges Nottingham Forest ahead at Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town are succumbing to a 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest in their Championship clash at the John Smith's Stadium, thanks to Ryan Mendes's strike.

Huddersfield Town are succumbing to a 1-0 half-time defeat against Nottingham Forest in Thursday night's Championship clash at the John Smith's Stadium.

The hosts were quickest off the starting blocks, winning several corners in the early stages and fashioning the first chance of the game eight minutes in, when Mustapha Carayol's corner was nodded wide by an unmarked Elliott Ward.

Carayol stood out for the Terriers as the majority of attacks went through him on the left flank, though he failed to come up with a reasonable end product in the first 20 minutes.

Dougie Freedman's charges, however, went on to take the lead in the 23rd minute, with Daniel Pinillos's cross from the left nodded across goal by Eric Lichaj and into the path of the oncoming Ryan Mendes, who duly rifled home.

The game lost some of its edge following the goal, with the action becoming increasingly scrappy and Carayol failing to make as much of an impact as he did earlier on, his long-range shot in the 40th minute sailing well wide of De Vries's near post.

Just before half time the hosts appealed for a handball against David Vaughan, but referee Graham Salisbury waved play on as Forest went in a goal up at the break.
