Sean Scannell netted his first Huddersfield Town goal as they snatched a half-time lead over Bristol City at the Galpharm Stadium this afternoon.
The hosts are without loan duo Jermaine Beckford and James Vaughan, who are both absent through injury, and replacement strike pair Lee Novak and Scannell were supplied little service as the Robins had marginally the better of the action.
City did come close to breaking the deadlock early on courtesy of Albert Adomah's curling free kick, which drifted narrowly wide of Alex Smithies's post.
Jonathan Stead also sent two efforts off target, firstly heading over the crossbar before shooting wide from outside the area in a first half thin on goalscoring chances.
However, Scannell gave some life to an otherwise uneventful opening period when he converted from Novak's cut-back on 43 minutes.
